Cold Terps is Calibis Farms' signature cold-extraction terpene process, built to protect the natural aroma and flavor compounds found in cannabis flower. Unlike heat-based extraction methods that burn off or degrade volatile terpenes, Cold Terps uses sub-zero processing to preserve the plant's original terpene profile from harvest to final product, delivering a cleaner, more authentic cannabis concentrate.

The process starts with flash-freezing the flower immediately after harvest, before drying or curing begins, locking in trichomes and terpenes before oxidation or degradation can set in. From there, the frozen flower goes through cold extraction using a chilled solvent — cold ethanol or hydrocarbon — kept well below freezing throughout. Because both the plant material and solvent stay cold, plant waxes, lipids, and chlorophyll are left behind, resulting in a cleaner, purer extract. Since terpenes are highly volatile and degrade at low heat, keeping the entire extraction cold prevents the terpene loss common in traditional heat-based methods, preserving aroma, flavor, and effect. The raw extract is then filtered and purged of residual solvent using low-temperature methods rather than high heat, concentrating cannabinoids and terpenes without cooking away the plant's natural aromatics.
